Wajahat Jokhio was born in 1965 and was a resident of Wahdat Colony Qasimabad, Hyderabad. He had a Master of Arts in Economics and also began working with politics as a member of the Sindh Peoples Students Federation. He joined Mir Murtaza 1989 and started out on the Workers Commitee. He then became a Youth Office Bearer and later Press Secretary, Hyderabad division
